What Is Allowed In A Dumpster Rental?

Most household goods are allowed in a dumpster rental. Household goods, construction debris, and landscaping debris are the most common dumpster rental uses. Please review lists below to find out what is acceptable to put in a dumpster and what is not allowed in a dumpster rental.

What CAN Be Put In Dumpster Rental?

  • Household Goods - Most household goods are allowed. Call us if you have any questions! Clothes, paper products, plastic items, furniture, chairs, tables, night stands, bookshelves, beds.
  • SOME Appliances - Dishwashers, stoves, microwaves, washers, dryers are permitted, BUT REFRIGERATORS or AIR CONDITIONING UNITS ARE NOT ALLOWED.
  • SOME Electronics - TVs, computers, printers and other personal electronics in small quantities are allowed.
  • Construction Debris - Clean building materials from demolition are allowed (NO hazardous or treated/exterior lumber).
  • Roofing Materials - ALL roofing materials are accepted. For Tile or earthen roofing materials, please call to discuss weight limits and fill level, per dumpster.
  • Completely Empty Aerosol Cans - ONLY IF completely empty. IF EMPTY, these can be put in the dumpster BUT if they are full, or even partially-full, they are prohibited.
  • Storm Debris - This includes all uncontaminated and non-hazardous materials. Most damaged building materials and yard waste are permitted, provided they fall within the debris restrictions of the service area. However, Storm Debris CANNOT be mixed into the same dumpster with Recyclable Yard Debris (tree limbs). IF YOU NEED TO RENT TWO DUMPSTERS, LET US KNOW!
  • Yard Waste - Limbs, shrubs, and leaves are allowed. In some locations, you CAN NOT MIX YARD WASTE WITH ANY OTHER MATERIAL; you may not mix yard waste debris in the same dumpster with other household, junk, or construction debris. Check your location's Accepted Waste page below.

WHAT CANNOT Be Put In Dumpster Rental?

  • No Food Waste
  • No Air Conditioning Units - Unless ALL Freon and fluids have been removed by a licensed HVAC Contractor
  • No Refrigerators
  • No Hazardous Materials - Assume a product is hazardous if the label contains ANY of the following words: pesticide, fertilizer, warning, poison, acid, danger, caustic, flammable.
  • No Concrete, Brick, Asphalt, Sand, Dirt, Sod, or Earth Products - These items are not allowed. If small quantities are included with household remodeling, please note that these items require extra care when being placed into the dumpster to avoid damage to the dumpster and weigh more than they look like they do.
  • No Paint Cans, No Lacquers, No Adhesives
  • No Tires
  • No Oils, No Fuels, No Propane Tanks
  • No Ink Or Resins
  • No Batteries
  • No Full Or Partially-Empty Aerosol Cans
